NCAA First Round Playoff Wrap Up in College Beat 88
College BeatJamesLand - Sunday, May 11

Duke is going to the Championship game, and they are going to win it. Mark my words.

I do admit this is not much of a prediction...but it is time to make it.

More College Lacrosse Tournament Breakdown in College Beat 87
College BeatRich_Donovan - Wednesday, May 07

Rich Donovan—a former college coach and a frequent contributor to the LAXnews site—shares some thoughts on the '08 NCAA Tourney.

He has taken over the column from James Land for this edition of College Beat.

College Lacrosse Tournament Breakdown in College Beat 86
College BeatJamesLand - Sunday, May 04

The regular season is over. The 16 NCAA tournament teams have been selected. The games that really mean something are about to begin.

Before running through the first round playoff match-ups, I want to take a minute and write about something that did not jump out at me when the bracket was first announced, but I realized a few minutes after looking over the teams. It is what teams got in from which conferences.

Final 2008 College Lacrosse Rankings in College Beat 85
College BeatJamesLand - Sunday, May 04

This weekend told us one thing for sure--the NCAA Tournament will be interesting.

There were loads of upsets and from the way they went down, it looks like any tournament team could beat any other tournament team.

 Colgate Downs Syracuse, 12-11
OtherJohn_Dunn - Saturday, May 03

Hamilton, New York--Can Colgate finally get some respect?

Having beaten Bucknell twice, Navy, and #2 Syracuse in the last three weeks, Colgate is on the biggest roll of any team in the country right now. Call me crazy--and three or four weeks ago I would have sounded crazy writing this--but I think Colgate deserves a very high seed in the Tournament.

 Lax Xchange 4/27/08
Lax XchangeJohn_Dunn - Sunday, April 27

The Lax Xchange lines on the games next weekend.

Colgate: Buy

Colgate has won games against ranked opponents three times in the past six days (Bucknell twice and Navy). Does that sound familiar? It happened in 2007.

College Lacrosse Rankings in College Beat 84
College BeatJamesLand - Sunday, April 27

I feel like we need a big advent calendar. You remember, the one your mom bought for you around Thanksgiving every year.

It had little doors on it and you started to open them on December 1st. Every day that went by in December, you opened a door and there was something good inside. A picture and a few words, something to help build your excitement for Christmas day.

College Lacrosse Projected Top 8 Seeds in D1 in College Beat 83
College BeatJamesLand - Sunday, April 27

The top 8 seeds should go something like this:

1. Duke

Record: 15-1

Goals Scored Per Game: 15.67

 The NLL Beat - April 23, 2008
NLLKevin_Fixler - Wednesday, April 23

Seriously – does anyone want to win the title?

Granted, it’s a league filled with parody, and some late blockbuster deals did change the dynamics of several teams quite a bit, but it seems that no one really can take and hold any form of dominance for more than a two or three week stretch.

 Lax Xchange 4/22/08
Lax XchangeJohn_Dunn - Tuesday, April 22

The Lax Xchange lines on the games next weekend.

Bucknell: Sell
Highly rated Bucknell lost to unranked Colgate this weekend 11-9.

Back in February I wrote in the first ever edition of Buy/Sell:

College Lacrosse Rankings in College Beat 82

41 teams will be eliminated from NCAA D1 title contention before the NCAA Playoffs start on May 10th. The other 16 will get a shot at a National Championship.

 Lax Xchange 4/13/08
Lax XchangeJohn_Dunn - Sunday, April 13

The Lax Xchange lines on the games next weekend.

Ohio State: Buy
Ohio State upset #8 North Carolina 14-11 this weekend. The Buckeyes improved to 8-3 on the year. All three of their losses came in overtime to ranked opponents (Navy, UMBC, and Bucknell).

College Lacrosse Rankings in College Beat 81
College BeatJamesLand - Sunday, April 13

They come in mid April every year--the rivalry games. Army-Navy, Hopkins-Maryland, and Duke-Virginia. Mid week, there was another one of these. It was the one for the battle for supremacy in upstate New York, Cornell-Syracuse.

Army and Navy have played 86 times in the history of their rivalry. Army got the upset win this time around. Hopkins and Maryland have played 105 times. Hopkins came up with a convincing 10-4 win this weekend.

College Lacrosse Rankings in College Beat 80
College BeatJamesLand - Sunday, April 06

The 2008 season has certainly not been boring--The defending National Champion, Hopkins, is in a huge slump and the runner up from last season, Duke, is on the rise.
